Aerobics

If you're looking to build up your endurance than aerobics are for you. Aerobics focuses on the cardiovascular system meaning your heart, lungs, and blood circulation. By pushing the body to use more oxygen, this form of exercise is all about getting your heart and blood pumping more efficiently.

The aim being to build up the amount of time it takes before your body needs to start using energy reserves. With aerobics, you get a full body workout without undue strain on any one particular set of muscles. This is why movement is coordinated and includes a lot of variety to avoid strain through too much repetition.

Classes often involve music and an instructor who will lead you through the steps. There are many different movements involved but most classes are similarly structured.

You will generally have a warm up period that involves stretching to prevent muscles being pulled. This is followed by the main bulk of high energy exercise intended to get your heart and lungs working to full capacity. After this may come a cool down period followed by exercises that focus on developing a particular set of muscles.

Finally you will probably finish with more stretching to keep your muscles from seizing up after the high burst of energy required for the class. There are of course different types of classes as well with some focussing on using a step while others are floor based. This form of exercise is a great way to burn off calories without the risk of overly developed muscles or doing yourself an injury.
