Spinning

If you want to get seriously in shape, then spinning is something you should look into it. It doesn't refer to sitting at a spinning wheel like in Sleeping Beauty but rather high powered in door cycling.

Spinning classes have become popular as a way of burning calories at an impressive speed. They usually are of under an hour in duration with an average of five hundred calories burned per session. Specially adapted bicycles are used with an instructor to urge you on. These are often set up in a semi circle with the instructor at the front.

The difference between these bikes and ordinary mountain bikes is that they have special levers to allow for resistance to be lowered or increased. The saddle and handlebars can also be adjusted depending on the kind of exercise and the intensity you wish to achieve. Sometimes the class may be divided into different teams to encourage a competitive atmosphere. It's fun but it's also a serious way to get fit and build up your leg muscles.

Although speeds can be adjusted to suit your fitness level, this is not really a form of exercise for the faint hearted. The emphasis is on pushing yourself harder and faster to build up your overall fitness. It's good for your heart and lungs as well as increasing endurance and overall strength in your body. As it's indoor you're not dependent on the vagaries of the weather. The advantage of a class is not only that it's more social but also that you can monitor your progress. A professional instructor can help to ensure that you get the most out of your workout.
