Running training program

Developing a good running program can take years of experience - but you have the choice as to whether that's your own experience, or whether you'll go to a professional and reap the benefits of their hard-earned wisdom.

There are actually many sources of professional help in developing a running training program. The obvious one is to use a personal trainer, either from your gym or by recommendation, but there are alternatives.

An alternative option is to join a track club. Coaches there will be able to design a running training program for you, plus you'll have the additional benefit of working out with others who share your interest and are around you ability level.

Alternatively you could buy a book - there are numerous titles out there, many of which are highly recommended. A quick look at a shopping website will not only bring you an extensive list of titles, but also allow you to see reader feedback, so you can tell which books are useful and which are not.

The benefits of getting this type of advice are huge - not only will you find that your fitness improves more quickly, you will also be less likely to get injured. And if you decide you want to race, then the basic conditioning you've already acquired will stand you in good stead.
