Speed training program

Developing a good speed training program requires a level of knowledge that most of us don't possess. But if you are involved in almost any sport or activity, adding this type of workout to your regular mix has the potential to dramatically improve your performance.

Speed training programs are a part of almost all athletes and sports people's regular schedule. Not only do sprinters use these types of workouts, you will also find long distance runners such as Paula Radcliffe burning their way through sprint routines, all in search of that elusive edge that speed training programs can give them.

The bottom line is that to go faster, you have to train faster. The days when simply pounding out the miles was thought to be sufficient are long gone.

It is not only runners who look for this edge - in a sport like football, players in all positions need the ability to cover the ground as quickly as possible - whether it's a midfielder like Frank Lampard covering 10 miles per game, or a forward like Michael Owen haring in on goal, the ability to accelerate away from an opponent is priceless.

If you have a good aerobic base, you can either talk to a certified coach or else refer to one of the numerous books or DVDs on the subject. The workouts are brutal, but the benefits are huge.
