Increase energy

One of the benefits of regular exercise is increased energy. Regular exercisers will tell you that one of the best things about their workouts is that they feel better afterwards than they did before! It doesn't seem to matter too much what form of exercise you take part in, chances are it will increase energy levels both short and long-term.

However, two of the most popular choices to increase energy levels are yoga and Pilates. Both combine strength and flexibility work, leaving you more relaxed and able to deal with life's hassles.

However, if you are feeling low, it can sometimes be hard to get started. There are a number of tricks people use to help them get up off the couch and into the gym:
  • Workout Partners: If you work out with someone else, or attend a regular class where people will miss you if you're not there, it can encourage you to go.

  • Tell People You're Going: If everyone at the office knows that you go to a Pilates class on a Tuesday night, chances are they'll ask you about it on Wednesday - it's much harder to skip when you know you'll have to explain why you skipped your workout to a hundred people!

  • Get Changed: If all else fails, and you find yourself lying on the couch when you should be in the car on the way to the gym, try this - get up and get changed. Chances are once you're moving, and have your workout clothes on, you'll go.
