Cycling

A way of protecting the environment, cycling is also very good for you. It's a great way to workout and burn off calories.

Cycling obviously helps to build up the muscles in your legs but as a form of aerobic exercise, it's also very good for strengthening your heart and lungs. This in turn improves your blood circulation and leaves you less vulnerable to heart disease, heart attacks, and strokes.

Cycling also has the advantage that it's a form of exercise that doesn't require any great skill. Most of us know how to ride a bike and as they say once you learn you never forget. It's also easier on the joints than other sports such as running. The best way to benefit from exercise is to practice it on a regular basis.

So why not get into the habit of hopping on your bike to work? Not only will you avoid much of the stress of being stuck in traffic or crowded trains, the physical activity itself will help you to relax.

Research has shown that those who exercise on a regular basis not only live longer by reducing their chances of developing heart disease and colonic cancer, but also suffer less from stress related conditions. Those who don't keep their bike rusting in the garden shed are also far less likely to suffer from obesity. This form of exercise is estimated to burn three hundred calories for every hour of activity. Being overweight is a serious health risk as it puts more strain on your heart through high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
