Inline skating
Rollerblading, otherwise known as inline skating, is a fun way both to travel and to exercise. The explosion of interest in inline skating has meant that many cities now hold mass rallies. These sometimes occur on a Friday night when hundreds of people join together to experience the joy of inline skating.
It's probably best to do a bit of training first however. Classes can help you gain confidence and balance. Protective padding may be worn but if you learn how to look after yourself, this is not a particularly dangerous sport.
It's good for giving your legs a full workout and toning your thighs and posterior. You can burn calories while getting places at a considerably faster pace than walking. Unlike with bikes, you don't have to worry about chaining up your wheels either. You can speed through traffic jams or soak up the fresh air in your local park. Many people like to roll along while listening to their favourite music. A mixture of aerobics, cycling, and dance, this is a great way to get fit that doesn't require enormous pain or sacrifice.
You can also learn special dance moves and other impressive tricks to stun friends and passers-by alike. It will also help you to develop your balance and coordination. It's normal to fall around at the very beginning and clutch at every lamppost. However you'll be surprised how quickly you find yourself gliding along at an impressive pace. Of course it's also very important to master the art of stopping!
