Advanced training

When you're ready to go to the next level, advanced training can make all the difference. The truth is that most people's workouts do no more than stop them from getting out of shape. Advanced training can really help you kick on, make some progress, and meet your goals.

So what do we mean by advanced training? The term covers a whole range of areas such as:

  • Periodization
  • Core conditioning
  • Medicine ball workouts
  • Active recovery
  • Circuits
  • Anaerobic workouts
  • Aspects of proper squats
  • Isometric exercise
  • Balls vs benches
  • Vibration workouts

What all these have in common is that they will challenge your body, force you to work in new ways or with greater intensity. This is crucial if you want to do more than simply go through the motions.

The key to all successful workouts is progressive resistance - this means that your workouts must constantly change in order for you to make progress. Too many people stick to the same old routine week in week out, without ever varying it.

But once you commit to change, there are so many ways you can vary your workouts and challenge your body. Choices include:

  • Using new equipment
  • Greater intensity (variations in weight, rest, reps, etc)
  • Performing current exercises in a different, more effective way
  • Changing the mix of your workouts

So check out the articles - you might find something that will be the spur you need to dramatically improve your workouts.
