Fitness equipment
For a good workout, you need the right fitness equipment. Most good gym or health clubs should offer a good range of fitness equipment that will allow you to have a satisfying cardiovascular workout.
Gone are the days when fitness equipment began and ended with an old flywheel bike gathering dust in the corner of the room. Worse still the set of sand filled dumbells that cracked when you dropped them!
Today there is a greater variety of fitness equipment that ever available to use. The most popular items include:
- Treadmills
- Elliptical trainers
- Recumbent bike
- Exercise bike
- Steppers
- Rowers
Each of these has their benefits, and will thus be more suitable for different people at different times. For example, when warming up before a weight workout, rowers and elliptical trainers are a good choice, because they involve the upper body muscles. However, someone who has suffered from back problems might find the rower difficult, and be more comfortable on a recumbent bike.
For a really satisfying cardio workout you might also consider moving from one machine to another - for example you could do ten minutes each on the treadmill, recumbent bike, stepper and then rower, for a really demanding and interesting forty minute cardio session.
Given the choices available at most gyms there's really no excuse to stick with the same machine every time you work out.
